Release of the book “FOR THE LOVE OF GOLF” on Club Day, May 31st 2025, celebrating 130 years from 1895 to 2025. Followed by prize distribution.
On the Club Day, May 31st 2025, the Kodaikanal Golf Club celebrated the release of the Coffee Table book “FOR THE LOVE OF GOLF” celebrating 130 years from 1895 to 2025. The first copy of the book was presented by former Captain of the Club Mr. R. Sukumar to veteran sports journalist Mr. R. Mohan.
Authored by Ms. Kalyani Candade and designed by Ms. Malvika Mehra of Art Works, the book traces the history of the Club from its inception in 1895, through all its joys and challenges, the close links with the first settlement of Kodaikanal, the never-say-die attitude of the golfing community, and the passion for golf. The book also traces the course’s journey as a sustainable golf course as defined by the R&A.
Former Captain Mr. KC Raghunathan who facilitated the event, highlighted the gist of the Captain Mr. N Srinivasan’s message in the book. “The thing about golf is that it’s a fine test of one’s character. As a game, it rewards those who remain calm under pressure, never lose their temper and are able, when it seems like there is no way out, to think strategically. These are lessons for life, and what a wonderful way to learn them, in a setting as beautiful as the Kodaikanal Golf Course.”
This was followed by the prize distributions to all the winners of the summer tournaments.
The gala function was attended by the Club’s golfing community and well-wishers, with many golfers and their families coming in from outstation.
